Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Hampton Roads, Virginia

About Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Hampton Roads, Virginia

RPCVs of Hampton Roads has existed in southeastern Virginia since the 1990s, and currently has around 100 members who served in about 45 different countries from the early 60s (“Kennedy’s Kids”) to the present. We are a social/service organization that conducts educational workshops and provides public speakers for programs at schools, scout troops, churches, etc. We also assist with recruiting efforts on behalf of the Arlington PC office in this area, and we support Hampton Roads PCVs currently serving overseas with donations of clothing, books and money.

The mission of the RPCVs of Hampton Roads is to carry out the Third Goal of the Peace Corps–to bring the world back home–in the following ways:

  • Encourage membership among area RPCVs in the local chapter and in the NPCA.
  • Meet socially to promote fellowship among group members.
  • Assist the Arlington PC recruiting office in attracting new volunteers.
  • Share knowledge of the world with local school groups and other interested organizations.
  • Support current PCVs in the field with financial, material or other assistance.
  • Inform and educate the Hampton Roads community about the Peace Corps and its work.
