Northern Virginia Returned Peace Corps Volunteers

About Northern Virginia Returned Peace Corps Volunteers

After a very successful turnout for a 50th Anniversary event held in Reston, Va. in April 2011, the Northern Virginia Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (NOVARPCV) decided to organize into a NPCA RPCV group. The first NOVA RPCV meeting convened on April 27th, 2012. Our group covers Northern Virginia as our meetings are normally held in Fairfax County. We meet once every quarter on a Sunday evening for a pot luck dinner and to listen to a guest speaker. Our vision is to build an international network of Peace Corps alumni and friends to foster peace through better understanding of other cultures and social and physical geography. We encourage mentoring of potential and returning PCV’s, working together in local service projects, and promoting the 3Rd goal of Peace Corps. Our Community Service Committee maintains the a walking trail in Reston, runs a very successful booth at the Reston MultiCultural Festival, and supports the local immigrant community in partnership with Lutheran Social Services/Northern Virginia and the Rotary Club.
