The Harpswell Foundation (www.harpswellfoundation.org) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to equip young women in Southeast Asia with leadership skills, education, and a supportive network. We envision a new generation of women leaders who create and inspire positive social change.
In Cambodia, Harpswell carefully selects some of the brightest and most ambitious young women from all over the country and provides them with room and board, as well as leadership training and classes in critical thinking while they are enrolled at universities in Phnom Penh.

THE POSITION

We are looking for strong, independent young women fluent in English to serve as Leadership Residents (LRs), working as teachers, mentors and role models for Harpswell students. LRs teach Harpswell’s core curriculum, lead bi-weekly classes in critical thinking and work one-on-one with the students. We ask LRs to join us for terms ranging from three to six months to live with the students at Harpswell’s two leadership centers, both located in Cambodia's capital city Phnom Penh. Candidates must be self-starters with previous international experience who have the capacity to act resourcefully in a foreign environment. Leadership Residents receive room and board and a modest stipend but must provide for their own travel to Cambodia. All Leadership Residents are expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

• Teach Harpswell’s core curriculum, with set topics designed to promote critical thinking and knowledge of Southeast Asia

• Facilitate critical thinking discussions about current events, national and international

• Mentor students in one-on-one sessions, teaching life skills, leadership and personal development

• Provide one-on-one English language conversation sessions

• Lead cultural activities

• Serve as role models

• Share their skills, talents and interests with the students

  Harpswell has been operating for thirteen years now, with nine years of graduates. Our 160 alumnae include professors, bankers, journalists, engineers, lawyers and NGO executives. We are widely regarded as one of the leading organizations devoted to the empowerment of women in Southeast Asia. As a Leadership Resident, you will form lasting relationships with and play a significant role in shaping the next generation of leaders of Cambodia.
