    • GCNF is a 501c3 organization founded in 2006 by George McGovern, Gene White, et al. It is dedicated to helping govenments around the world build national school meal programs that contribute to their educational, health, economic, agricultural, and human capital development goals.

      The Board of Directors is comprised of an international group of leading experts on child nutrition, school meal programs,  and related matters. The Executive Director is an RPCV, affiliated with NPCA, SEAPAX (Seattle-area RPCV group), and Friends of Niger. Her prior work includes Peace Corps (volunteer and staff), the US Dept. of Agriculture, the United Nations World Food Program, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. 

      GCNF's small staff (currently 5.5 positions) is supplemented by a diverse set of volunteers, consultants, and interns located throughout the world. In addition, GCNF partners with numerous UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, private sector entities, and academic institutions throughout the world with shared interests in school meal programs and related topics. 

    • GCNF is located in Seattle, WA. Under pre-approved conditions, staff may work remotely. However, some in-person work, and domestic and international travel, at least on a periodic basis and as pandemic conditions allow, is expected for GCNF employees.

    The primary responsibilities of this position are communications, events, and fundraising on
    behalf of the Global Child Nutrition Foundation (GCNF): Strategic Communications: Develop and implement effective ongoing communications efforts that raise awareness and advocates for investment in sustainable, locally-sourced, nutritious school meal programs that improve equity in food systems and broader education, health, nutrition, and economic outcomes Event Management: GCNF hosts at least one major global event (Global Child Nutrition Forum) each year, along with a handful of smaller, virtual or in-person events. The 5-day Forum is held outside the US and attracts high level government officials. This role assists in all aspects of event planning and execution, with key responsibility on several specific activities essential to event execution. Fundraising/Development: Assist the GCNF team in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.
