- Why the Peace Corp third goal just might hold the key to corporate survival -

In today’s business arena a forward leaning mindset is required to better engage suppliers and counter global risks. Implementing a lasting strategic global risk management platform means that procurement professionals need to be aware of and prepared for the constant changes ahead. This business stance demands that strategic supply chain practitioners become uniquely trained in risk management tool deployment to drive needed changes. But the scale of the supply chain and other global business risks combined with the relatively short timeframe for action requires a better near-term staffing solution. A solution utilizing globally aware individuals who can more effectively help businesses meet present day challenges across the supply chain.

In fact, todays purchasing professionals must morph into net providers of information on risk for the businesses they serve, while also facilitating culturally sensitive solutions. But to speed this process businesses will do well to secure more globally experienced team members to better identify, interpret, and implement a wider range of decidedly global risk solutions. Then plot any needed course correction or confirm the stability of the current course based on the defined risk. Procurement is the point of the spear in any such advanced risk management actions. To that end, corporate America would be wise to fully engage the literal army of RPCV’s who are available and come with existing strong soft skills as well as high third goal momentum.

The meeting agenda below covers several examples of global risk, and we will tackle the related strategies to facilitate risk resolution. This overview will demonstrate best practices to reduce risk and likewise show opportunities for RPCV ‘s in a fast-changing global procurement landscape:

-          Proactive soft skill integration into modern businesses

-          Current and historical global event awareness

-          Disruptive technology deployment and adoption

-          Alignment with global standards

-          Micro and macro risk management threats

At the end of my presentation, you will have a clearer idea of the supply chain risks ahead. You will better understand how data and enhanced globally minded staffing can be critical to future supply chain success. Likewise, illuminating a needed, viable, and substantive path forward for RPCV’s who are seeking a better outlet for their unique skills and third goal deployment plans.
