Community Building Platform Highlights

National Peace Corps Association's online Community Building Platform - powered by SilkStart - has been upgraded with some very exciting developments for affiliate groups.

With almost 50 groups already using the platform - and many more in the process of joining - NPCA is excited to facilitate increased connectivity and collaboration between our affiliate groups and the broader Peace Corps community. 

The Community Building Platform is an all-in-one service designed to increase your group's visibility, strengthen engagement with your members, and improve your fundraising capacity to support your programs. 

NPCA is excited to offer this new technology and services to help your group groups thrive. 

 

 

The platform is an all-inclusive system for member management; website creation, hosting, and administration; communications and marketing; calendar and event organization; fundraising campaigns; and payments and invoicing.

Groups attending the Affiliate Group Network Annual Meeting (AGNAM) will get a comprehensive introduction to the website/database platform and how it benefits groups. Not able to attend?

Website

Having an online presence is key to increasing your group's membership engagement. A website is the best way to communicate your mission and activities to your members (and potential new members!), share information and offer opportunities to get involved.

The Community Building Platform offers:

  • A pre-built template designed specifically for the Peace Corps community. It's a great launching point, and is still easily customizable to be tailored exactly for your group's needs. 
  • A modern, easy-to-use, mobile-friendly website

 

Membership Database

A nationally integrated membership database - complete with a variety of management features - allows you to better communicate with, track and engage your members. The inter-connectivity of the platform makes it easier for both group leaders and group members. 

The Community Building Platform offers:

  • A national database, allowing members to view their membership status in all their groups and update their information from a single login point.
  • Real-time updates on membership purchases, renewals or  changes to contact information.
  • Groups can set multiple membership plans - both free and paid.
  • An automated renewal process which automatically sends members reminders when it is time to renew. 
  • An online, searchable membership directory for your members to use to further connect. 

 

Fundraising Campaigns 

 The campaigns page and payment processing center facilitates your fundraising initiatives to increase your group's impact. Raise funds to support that causes or projects that matter most to your members. 

TThe Community Building Platform offers:

  • The flexibility to run targeted campaigns for a specific project or program. You can offer multiple campaigns at the same time, allowing donors to choose what they are most passionate about.  
  • A progress bar that lets donors immediately see how their contribution is making a difference in reaching the goal
  • An automated system that allows people to sign up for a recurring donation on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, in addition to sending out automatic thank you emails. 

 

Communications Platforms 

Communications tools are essential to keeping your membership engaged and encouraging their continued participation as members, donors or volunteers. Use these tools to share information about your activities and accomplishments to keep your community informed.

The Community Building Platform offers:

  • An e-newsletter features that offers a variety of pre-formatted templates you can use to send regular e-newsletters or stand-alone messages.
  • A blog to share news and stories from around the Peace Corps community with your members.

 

Events Calendar 

Engage with your members in person! You can organize free events or paid events, and collect ticket sales directly through the website.

The Community Building Platform offers:

  • A calendar that can be organized by color-coded event categories for easy scanning of types of upcoming events
  • Automated emails to remind people about events they are registered for. 
  • Easily downloadable registration lists for organizers to use during check in or future outreach.
