Janet Greig retired as an Agency Field Executive for State Farms Insurance in 2002 but remains active with family, community and church obligations.
Throughout Janet’s professional life in the insurance industry she worked for independent insurance agencies, became a State Farm Insurance agent herself and then moved into a management position with State Farm.
Janet and her husband have continued their connection to the world with regular travel, support for development projects in the “Global South” and deep involvement on the board of One World Children’s Fund, a non-profit group which networks resources to grassroots projects addressing the needs of children and their caregivers around the world.
She and her husband are long-time members of the National Peace Corps Association and of the Northern California Peace Corps Association and became members of NPCA’s Director’s Circle in 2004. Janet was active on the steering committee for MorePeaceCorps, held a successful fundraiser for it in Northern California, and is committed to contributing what she can to the future of a successful, re-invigorated Peace Corps.
Janet graduated from UC Berkeley, before serving in the Peace Corps in India, working with village women in Andhra Pradesh as part of the UN-sponsored Applied Nutrition Program. There she met and married her husband, Wylie. Janet was able to do contract work on site selections for Peace Corps in India before they were assigned to Kabul late in 1968. Their youngest child, Jessica, served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Benin ’97-’99.
