David is the President of EdAction Associates and an education policy analyst for the Council of State Governments.

He was active in the passage of the Blood Diamonds legislation. As a Massachusetts State Senator, he founded the Massachusetts Centers for Global and Multicultural Education, which has trained thousands of Massachusetts in-service and pre-service teachers in global and multi-cultural teaching methods, sponsored Massachusetts’ World Wise Schools Program, and sponsored the first successful bill in the nation to allow any experienced teacher to leave his or her Massachusetts classroom with a guarantee that their position would be available to them on their return with their retirement benefits unaffected. He has been a regular classroom volunteer on Peace Corps Day.

Dave also serves on the board of World Education, Inc., was co-founding board member of the Sierra Leone Cultural Organization in Boston and also of Friends of Rwanda Genocide Survivors (FORGES).

He was the RPCV plenary speaker at the 25th Anniversary in Washington, D.C., “Third Goal” Panelist for the 45th Anniversary, and past NPCA Advisory Board participant.

Dave served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone and, teaming up with his spouse, Nanette Magnani, Ed.D,, Malaysia, ’72-’74, served as Peace Corps Training Staff in Kenya in ’82-’83.

A resident of Framingham, MA, David has been a long time member of member of the NPCA, the BARPCV and Friends of Sierra Leone (FOSL).
