Global Community Project Competition
NPCA created the Global Community Project Fund to support innovative and scalable projects addressing today’s pressing challenges led by members of the Peace Corps community. Projects may include microfinance programs, working with local communities to build and manage housing or clean water and sanitation, advocating for education of girls, coordinating media activities to generate awareness and action or other projects in the Peace Corps community and beyond.
The NPCA is accepting proposals for projects that improve livelihoods in ways that strengthen peace and enhance prosperity—the Peace Corps’ timeless two overarching goals. These proposals must:
- Have a direct and measurable benefit to a community of need
- Be replicable and scalable
- Involve a Peace Corps Community member
- Projects may be based in the United States or abroad
The most successful proposal will be awarded a $25,000 grant.
NPCA invites proposals from Member Groups, NPCA members, and other members of the Peace Corps community, which are any individuals who value the Peace Corps. This includes Peace Corps staff, Host Country Nationals, and Counterparts.

Rules and Regulations
- The $25,000 grant awarded to the winner of this proposal competition will be based upon the most responsive submission which incorporates the principles of the Peace Corps (not limited to the three goals of the Peace Corps, continuation of service, bringing cultural knowledge home, cultural appreciation and sharing, integration in communities to solve community challenges), which aims to promote a more peaceful and prosperous world.
- All proposals should be confined to matters sufficient to define the purpose and outcome of your project and provide adequate supporting materials to demonstrate that your project is viable.
- Each participant may only submit one proposal. Applicants who submit more than one proposal will be disqualified.
- Proposals should be 5 pages in length and font may not be smaller than 11 pt. Multiple attachments may be included.
- All submitted proposals must be in English.
- Any proposal which does not include a Peace Corps Community member will be disqualified.
- The winner must provide the appropriate financial information to receive the grant. Financial reporting will be required for the mid-year and final reports.
- Grant funds must be used towards the project presented in this competition.
- The winner of this contest is not eligible to win the Sargent Shriver Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award in the same year.
- NPCA staff and family members are not eligible for this award.
The NPCA reserves the right to:
- Reject any or all offers and discontinue this RFP process without obligation or liability to any potential submitters.
- Award more than one grant.
- Use photographs, video or other media forms related to this project for its promotional uses.

Round Two Preparation
- The judges will select a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place Round One winners. Should the first or second winner be unable to attend the September presentation, the 3rd place person will be asked to attend. Round two winners must be NPCA members.
- Winners should prepare a 15 minute multi-media presentation for the audience.
- Winners must provide their own transportation and lodging to Washington for the final presentation.
- The Overall Winner will be provided with two gala tickets for the Promise of the Peace Corps Gala.
