It’s a Wrap: 142 Sign Peace Corps Funding Letter
By Jonathan Pearson on Friday, April 19th, 2013
With much, much appreciation to all National Peace Corps Association advocates, your phone calls, emails and persistence over the past several weeks has paid off once again.
That’s because – once again – a record number 142 members of the House of Representatives signed onto this year’s Dear Colleague letter, urging the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State/Foreign Operations to support a return to $400 million for the Peace Corps.
Authored by Peace Corps champion (and Colombia RPCV) Congressman Sam Farr and the four other RPCV Congressmen (Reps. Petri, Honda, Garamendi and Kennedy), the letter recommends $22 million more than President Obama in Fiscal Year 2014 and would return Peace Corps funding to Fiscal Year 2010 funding levels, which led to the highest number of volunteers in the field in more than 40 years.
Follow this link to read the final letter.
View the list below to see if your Congressman/woman signed onto the letter. If they did, contact them to say thank you!
