I Donated to NPCA and You Should, Too
By Erica Burman on Tuesday, September 11th, 2012
These days, there are plenty of places to spend your money, but we at the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), like to think that we’re a pretty good place in which to invest.
A donation to our organization is not just a one way cash expenditure, but an exchange that achieves compounding returns in the form of programming and information for our members, who then take their next step in changing the world.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. Recently, we reached out to some of our current donors and asked them why they feel that it’s important to donate to the National Peace Corps Association. Below are some of their responses.
Excited RPCVs queue outside the National Theater in Washington, DC on September 25, 2011 before the day’s events kicked off.
“I donated because I believe in the Peace Corps mission. I teach undergraduates and graduates now and often recommend that they apply. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life — life-changing and eye-opening, not only about Morocco but also about the U.S. I looked at the U.S. much differently when I returned.”
-RPCV, Morocco
“We contribute to the NPCA to keep the Peace Corps alive among Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Several of our India IV volunteers went to the 50th Anniversary celebrations organized by the NPCA in Washington, DC and we heard about their good experiences. We like the way the Board is chosen. Keep up the good communication and work you do to keep us and the world informed!”
- Husband & Wife RPCVs, India (’63-’65)
NPCA’s Global Community Project competition awarded Thomas Roberston (Nepal ’92-’96) and Andrew Dykens (Mauritania ’97-’99) with project funding.
“I wish I could have done a second tour of service but creaky knees and artificial hips prevent me from fulfilling such a dream. I donated because I believe in the organization and their goals even though I’m not in a position to donate very much. “
- RPCV, Jamaica
“It’s important to donate to NPCA because I like to be kept in the loop and know what’s going on in the Peace Corps Community.”
-RPCV, Panama

- RPCV, Guatemala
“I did not serve in the Peace Corps, but I work in global education and am very interested in the offerings of NPCA. Also, RPCVs are the coolest people I know!”
- Friend of Peace Corps
As the go-to resource for the dynamic and vibrant Peace Corps community, NPCA relies on your generous gifts to ensure programming that responds to our members needs and interests.
Will you donate when and where it matters to you? Join these people and many others and make your gift to the National Peace Corps Association.
In the comments section below, feel free to tell us why YOU donated to the National Peace Corps Association! Thank you!

If you can tell me how the money is spent and the distribution of donations, I would possibly be willing to make a donation.
Tia, you can donate directly to one of our programs (such as Advocacy) or you can donate to our general funds (which does things like keep our database operational, keeps the lights on, etc.) You can check out our 990 Form on Guidestar for details: http://www.guidestar.org/organizations/58-1431113/national-peace-corps-association.aspx
