Serving Volunteer Advisory Council is Up and Running

By Guest Contributor on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

National Peace Corps Association’s Serving Volunteer Advisory Council (SVAC) is up and running! On June 25th, Volunteers from all over the world called in for the very first SVAC Town Hall Meeting.  From Ecuador to Zambia to Mongolia and beyond, current Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) serving as Senior Advisors, Advisors and RPCVs as Special Advisors introduced themselves and discussed what SVAC can do to support them. If you would like to listen to the call, you can do so here.

Travis Hellstorm, author of Peace Corps 101, is helping NPCA coordinate the council, which will suggest topics for WorldView Magazine, provide feedback about issues or concerns of PCVs in the field, connect RPCVs with serving Volunteers and share information about NPCA to current PCVs. There are 12 senior advisors and an unlimited number of advisor positions for current PCVs. We are still looking for two more senior advisers so if you are interested please read the position descriptions and fill out the form and someone will contact you shortly. And if you simply want to join the team, sign up as an advisor!

We’re looking forward to a great year and hopefully connecting even more PCVs and RPCVs from around the world! Check out our page.
Thanks to Andrea Flynn-Schneider, Kenya Health Volunteer and SVAC Advisor, for this submission.
