Host a Global House Party in 2012!

By Molly Mattessich on Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

2011 Global House Party

Returned Volunteers, current Volunteers, parents of Peace Corps Volunteers, current and former Peace Corps staff and the entire Peace Corps community are invited to host Global House Parties on or around September 22, 2012.

Part of our Global House Parties effort will be to support the “Find the 250k” campaign. What would it be like if all of the voices of the Peace Corps volunteers and staff were counted? The National Peace Corps Association hopes to find out. By hosting a Global House Party and meeting new friends and neighbors, you will be a part of this effort! We will ask everyone to sign in to the parties and we will collect the names of attendees. It’s that simple!

Yes! I will host a Global House Party and help to Find the 250k!

Each Global House Party will be different. Some will be catered affairs with more than 50 attendees. Some will be a few friends coming together in an apartment for a potluck dinner. Still others will be more public events, for example businesses, schools and various organizations with a connection to the Peace Corps or with a critical mass of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Remember, anyone can share in the Peace Corps’ legacy, so these gatherings can include parents of currently serving volunteers, host country nationals… anyone who supports the Peace Corps. The concept is flexible–much like the Peace Corps.

To help you plan, we will send you a handy Global House Party Toolkit. It contains everything from how to advertise your party to party activities.

There are also a ton of items in the National Peace Corps Association Store that you can purchase as party giveaways or just have on hand. Why not offer a toast at your party with champagne flutes embellished with the Peace Corps logo?

One important component of this year’s Global House Parties is to support the success of the Find the 250k Campaign. We are asking every Global House Party host to collect $10 from each party attendee. The cash collected will bring the National Peace Corps Association closer to its goal of $51,000 for this 51st year of Peace Corps. By 2016, the Association wants to locate every current and returned PCV, as well as current and former Peace Corps Staff. Every single dollar helps with this campaigns efforts!

You can even donate now (it really helps!)

Be a party of history (again).

See last year’s Global House Party photos here with the location details and Peace Corps countries represented!

Delicious decorated Global House Party cakes are pictured on the NPCA Facebook page. Too beautiful to eat!

So, will you plan a House Party in your town/state/country or just attend one?
