NPCA Partners with Tripping.com to Create Online Hospitality Network

By Molly Mattessich on Friday, June 8th, 2012

We, at the National Peace Corps Association, are excited to share our new partnership with the social travel site Tripping.com.  The site will make it easy for PCVs and RPCVs to engage in cultural exchange in over 175 countries. In addition to connecting with local people for tips, shared cups of coffee and homestays when traveling, National Peace Corps Association network members also can carry out the Third Goal of Peace Corps by hosting international travelers via Tripping.

Find Places to Stay with RPCVs

After years of a printed directory listing names of people who could host the couchsurfing crowd, we love offering this online hospitality network to Peace Corps community members. Peace Corps volunteers, by nature, are almost always on the move, and this online site makes it easy for us to meet each other on the road. It’s one of the best perks for belonging to the Peace Corps “family.”

Affordable Home Rentals

Membership in the Tripping community is completely free, with no money exchanged between guests and hosts. While many members use the site for free homestays, most use it to meet up with locals for drinks, parties, home-cooked meals and other social activities. Travelers can also step straight into local neighborhoods by renting local homes through Tripping (revenue goes to support the programs of the National Peace Corps Association).

Not Traveling? Host!

Not traveling at the moment? Hosting travelers is a great way to experience cultural exchange without leaving home. “Hosting” can mean meeting for coffee, sharing meals, showing off your city or even hosting travelers overnight. Click here to read the Top 10 Reasons to Host.

Whether you’re at home or on the road, Tripping is the easiest way to connect with other RPCVs and people who share your interests in over 15,000 cities worldwide. You can also meet people who share your affiliations through 100+ official networks for organizations including universities, study abroad programs, travel companies, touring rock bands and international volunteer organizations like NPCA.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with the National Peace Corps Association, as we share a vision of fostering international friendships and creating peace through cultural understanding. We’ve always admired Peace Corps Volunteers for stepping out of their comfort zones and volunteering to make the world a better place. We welcome them all to Tripping and we hope they enjoy being part of our global community,” says Tripping’s CEO and co-founder, Jen O’Neal.
