Advocacy
Updated State Resources Now Available
By Susan Stine on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

One of the key elements to effective advocacy - such as when Virginia constituents met in September with Congressman Jim Moran - is to be well prepared.
Holiday season may be upon us but don’t let that stop you from advocating for the Peace Corps and preparing for 2012 advocacy initiatives!
Check-out the newly revamped Advocacy State Resources and help support Peace Corps related issues.
The resources include detailed information of lawmakers’ records on supporting Peace Corps issues, key contact information, committee assignments and more.
Complementing the state resources are the advocacy issue pages which break-down on the following Peace Corps issues: Peace Corps Funding, Kate Puzey Peace Corps Volunteer Protection Act, The Peace Corps Commemorative, and the future of the Peace Corps. Together these resources are a great tool to use when contacting your elected representatives about supporting the Peace Corps.
Also, don’t forget about our upcoming 8th Annual Day of Action on March 1st, 2012. If you enjoyed the 50th Anniversary Advocacy Day in September or or wish you could have participated, March will be our next major initiative. Please consider taking part by joining us on Capitol Hill. Or, you can plan to contact your representative by phone/email on March 1st. Our resources page also includes “Save-the-Date” flyers you can print and distribute to friends and family to begin mobilizing for March 1st.
