The National Peace Corps Association joined more than 100 members of the House of Representatives in supporting President Obama’s request of $440 million for the Peace Corps for Fiscal Year 2012.
NPCA submitted written testimony supporting the President’s request during hearings held last week by the House Appropriations Subcommittee for State and Foreign Operations.

RPCV Congressman Sam Farr (Colombia 64-66) testified before the Subcommittee and urged support for the Peace Corps. Fellow RPCV Congressman Mike Honda (El Salvador 65-67) also submitted written testimony which led with the importance to continue strong funding for the Peace Corps. Both Congressmen are members of the full Appropriations Committee.
Cuts to the Peace Corps budget for the remainder of the current fiscal year will reduce funding from $400 million to just more than $374 million.
