Action to Support Domestic Service Funding
By Guest Contributor on Monday, April 4th, 2011
The Peace Corps is just one of many service programs at risk of being cut this current fiscal year.
As the Senate prepares to take action on the FY2011 budget in the next few days, the Corporation for National and Community Service is being threatened with a severe reduction to its current budget. As the largest grant maker in support of volunteerism and service, The Corporation for National and Community Service funds Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, VISTA, NCCC, Learn and Serve America, the Volunteer Generation Fund and the Social Innovation Fund.
To prevent these vital programs from being diminished, the coalition group Save Service in America urges supporters of domestic volunteerism to contact their Senators and oppose catastrophic cuts to our service budget.
Follow this link to participate in this action opportunity today and support our fellow community-minded citizens. Please note that while April 4th was the proposed call-in day, you can continue taking this action during this week.
