Official 50th Anniversary Calendar
By Molly Mattessich on Thursday, March 17th, 2011
Looking for a Peace Corps 50th anniversary event near you?
Look no further than the National Peace Corps Association and Peace Corps official 50th Anniversary calendar.
In 2011, the Peace Corps will commemorate 50 years of promoting peace and friendship around the world. Attend any of the events supporting the agency’s mission and legacy of service by honoring our past, demonstrating our effectiveness, and inspiring the next generation of Volunteers through education and engagement. You are invited to use the Calendar to locate events near you and to post your own events.
The calendar is administered by the National Peace Corps Association and the whole Peace Corps community, including current volunteers and returned volunteers, current and former Peace Corps staff, family and friends of Peace Corps volunteers, will be aware of the fabulous events, many of which have been in the planning stages for years leading up to 2011.
The 50th anniversary is not just for people living in any one city or one country. Rather, it’s a global celebration of the values that are cherished by the Peace Corps, friendship, prosperity for all people, and peace.
What events are you hosting? Submit your event on the calendar.
The National Peace Corps Association kicked off the 50th anniversary year by leading the organization of 740 global house parties in 76 countries around the world.
Do you want to find an event near you? Check out one of the 9 Expos that NPCA and Peace Corps are planning in 9 states across the United States. Otherwise, I can guarantee that there is an event happening this year where you are.
Once you log into the calendar, you can create an event and copy the link into your Facebook profile or other social media account to let others know about it.
Search the calendar by keyword, including city or state name or country of service.
Be sure to check out all of the events happening in Washington, DC from September 22-25. Nearly every country of service group is planning a reunion and the Calendar is the one place where you can find information about them all.
