After a successful first 50th Anniversary Regional Expo in Jacksonville, Florida, we are setting our sights on our next two regional expos being held in Madison, Wisconsin on March 27th and Portland, Oregon on April 3rd. (Read about the Jacksonville Expo here:  “Older Americans find Peace Corps Appealing on First Coast” – Florida Times Union  – 2/28/11)

The expo in Madison follows and builds on the Peace Corps and Africa conference, March 24-26, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There will be a special workshop led by Angene Wilson for educators looking to bring a unique perspective on global issues and service into their classrooms. Scheduled speakers include Katie O’Connor (Nicaragua 1999-2001), Regional Manager, Regional Recruitment Office, Chicago, IL; NPCA President Kevin Quigley (Thailand 1976-1979); and Ana Zambie (Bolivia 1999-2001), president of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin-Madison. Portland’s expo features a “volunteer send-off” for local invitees, put on by the Seattle Regional Recruitment Office, along with a panel discussion about how Peace Corps service shaped the lives and careers of some local RPCVs.  Scheduled speakers include Melanie Forthun (Bulgaria 2006-2008), Public Affairs Specialist for the Regional Recruitment Office in Seattle, WA; NPCA President Kevin Quigley (Thailand 1976-1979) and; Erin Gettling (Ukraine 2003-2005), Events Coordinator for the Columbia River Peace Corps Association.
