NPCA, Others Urge White House Support for Foreign Assistance
By Jonathan Pearson on Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
“Just as we have a moral duty to help those most in need here at home, Americans have long felt a moral call to help the less fortunate overseas as well.” So reads a portion of a recent letter sent to President Obama, urging him to submit as strong a request as possible for international development and humanitarian assistance when he submits his Fiscal Year 2012 budget to Congress.
The National Peace Corps Association joined more than 100 of the nation’s other leading international development organizations in signing the letter to the President. The letter was circulated by InterAction, the largest alliance of U.S.-based international nongovernmental organizations focused on the world’s poor and most vulnerable people.
