Farr Letter Calls for $500 million in Fiscal Year 2012
By Jonathan Pearson on Monday, November 22nd, 2010
Congressman Sam Farr is leading the charge in the House for $500 million in Peace Corps' 50th anniversary year
More than 80 members of the House of Representatives have now signed a letter being circulated by RPCV Congressman Sam Farr (D-CA), asking President Obama to propose $500 million for the Peace Corps in his Fiscal Year 2012 budget. This letter is similar to a letter sent earlier this month by the National Peace Corps Association and 91 member groups also requesting $500 million in the 50th anniversary year of Peace Corps.
The other four House RPCVs in the current Congress, Tom Petri (R-WI), Mike Honda (D-CA), Steve Driehaus (D-OH) and John Garamendi (D-CA) have signed this letter.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Let’s make friends not enemies.
This is a drop in the bucket of expenditures of the U.S. government and it’s an invaluable export. Not sure why the Federal agency continues to be considered a darling pet project instead of the essential global service and investment that it is. If you think of how poor our global reputation is at the time, this program should be 3x the size that it is.
