Calling RPCVs Who Served in the Military
By Jonathan Pearson on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010
For Peace Corps volunteers who also have the distinction of being veterans of the military, here is a unique action opportunity for you.
The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition created the Veterans for Smart Power program which is urging veterans across the U.S. to sign a petition advocating for a national security strategy that invests in non-military tools of development and diplomacy. The petition also includes a comment section where you can reference your dual service in the military and the Peace Corps, and emphasize your support for increased funding for the Peace Corps.
The petition is intended to strengthen the support in Congress for the International Affairs Budget and its many programs (including Peace Corps) to provide food assistance, health and education, economic development, and other key initiatives.
NPCA is a member of The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, a network of 400 businesses and non-governmental organizations working to elevate diplomacy and humanitarian efforts alongside a strong military defense.
