Peace Corps Anniversary Begins to Take Shape

By Erica Burman on Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Smithsonian Folklife Festival

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival just announced that it will feature the Peace Corps as one of its themes. Volunteers will be on hand June 30, 2011 – July 4, 2011 and July 7-11, 2011 to share their Peace Corps experiences, photos, and stories. The festival is expected to draw over a million visitors.

We at the National Peace Corps Association could not be more excited to welcome all of the people who care about the Peace Corps, including those who have served, to our home base Washington, DC. We will be taking an active role in promoting and planning events around the Smithsonian Folklife festival.

Among the 50th anniversary activities I don’t see listed a gathering of former overseas P.Corps STAFF members. I believe I saw it listed once before, but I don’t see it now. When will that be and where? Thanks, Todd T.
